You know you missed my posting... I'm just kidding but I bet you are wondering how everything went!
Let's start with the day we left, Tuesday... Zach's parents picked me up a little before 6 and we went to Chili's for dinner and then hit the road about 7... We got to our cabin about 10 (which is 11 Georgia time).
Family Day was Wednesday! We got up early and got dressed and headed off for the barracks where we saw Huggy Hubby and all of the rest of the guys march in. They passed out a few awards and told us a little of what went on during Basic. They didn't announce his promotion at the ceremony but they announced it to the whole company before the program! After the short program Huggy Hubby and I had a meeting for married soldiers and their spouses... then he was released on pass for the day. We had a great day together, it was so wonderful to see him and spend some time with him.
Thursday was the big day!!! GRADUATION!!! This was an emotional day for me. I was so proud of Huggy Hubby and all of the other guys for all of their hard work. They had the band there and they had 2 striker vehicles and several soldiers put on a little show for us with smoke bombs and everything... It was cool! Then all of the soldiers marched by us and I got to see Huggy Hubby for the first time that day. They finished up the ceremony and we got to see them for 10 minutes and they had to go back to the barracks to change into their Class A dress uniforms to transport to AIT. They didn't wear the Class A uniforms for graduation because it is war time. They did wear them for Family Day though. We had to pick him up and sign him out at his barracks and as soon as he was free we headed out to a wonderful lunch at Olive Garden with family and friends.
We left the restaurant and headed for Fort Gordon which it took us about three hours to get there. We found a hotel and Huggy Hubby and I were tired and I had a headache so we crashed in our hotel room while his parents went to dinner. We checked out of that hotel on Friday morning and we drove around a good bit checking things out... One of my favorites was the River Walk. I can't wait for warm weather so we can hang out down there!
We checked in with one of HH's friends that was going to Fort Gordon also and he said that they were going to have a weekend pass and that we could go ahead and check him in and then take him back with us until Sunday night. So at about 7:30 we headed out to get him checked in and then I signed him out for the weekend and boy was I a happy camper! I needed that extra time with him! We stayed in a different hotel that night and it was crappy! We promptly checked out the next morning and went across the street and checked in at the Best Western. I told the manager that I would be frequenting the area and she offered me a discount so that was great! I also joined their rewards program so I can earn free nights.
We dropped him off at 8 (Alabama time) last night and headed home. It only took us four hours to get home, not too bad.
HH called me at 6:30 this morning and he was sad... he was crying because he was alone again and didn't know what to do or what was going to happen yet. He is better now but it broke my heart to hear him cry and me not be there for him... I cried last night and he was there for me and then today he is the one crying and has no one there... We have talked several times today so that makes the separation SO much better! He processes tomorrow and classes will start.
I should be able to go over there this weekend. He can't leave base but I am going to see if I can get a room on base since I will be by myself... He says he is pretty sure I can come so pray that I can... I need it, it has been so hard to be away from him for so long...
Anyways, that is about it for now! I will update with some pictures later on! Happy Monday!
